Indian Premier League (IPL) is the world’s most profitable cricket league and the procedure for IPL 2021 has started by the franchise. On January 20, 2021, eight city-based franchises have announced a list of players whom they are releasing in auction for IPL 2021. All teams have retained their match winners and released some of the big players.

IPL 2021 – Players Retained & Released by All Teams
Kings XI Punjab has the maximum budget in auction for IPL 2021 and they will look for big international players in their side in IPL 2021. Kings XI Punjab released many players for auction. Kings released Glenn Maxwell after his poor performance in IPL 2020. KXIP also released Sheldon Cottrell, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, K Gowtham, Jimmy Neesham etc. They will look for an all-rounder in IPL 2021 auction.
Delhi Capitals has the lowest budget in purse because Delhi team is stable. They nearly maintained the same core. Delhi Capitals released Alex Carey, Keemo Paul, Sandeep Lamichhane, Mohit Sharma, Tushar Deshpande and Jason Roy. They can bid for Jason Roy in the auction as it will be good for the team if they have an international overseas batsman in top order.
Royal Challengers Bangalore has done some big changes and announced a big list of released players. RCB has released Aaron Finch after his poor performance as an opener in IPL 2020. It is good to see that they are backing young talented Josh Philippe in their squad. RCB also released all-rounder Chris Morris, Moeen Ali, Shivam Dubey, Gurkeerat Singh Mann and fast bowler Isuru Udana and Umesh Yadav. They will look for good quality bowlers in the auction of IPL 2021.
Chennai Super Kings has released only Indian players and retained all their overseas cricketers. CSK will look for an attacking batsman in top order for IPL 2021 as Shane Watson took retirement from cricket. Steven Smith released by RR is the ideal choice for an international experienced batsman in top order for CSK. CSK has released Harbhajan Singh, Kedar Jadhav, Piyush Chawla etc.
Rajasthan Royals has released the captain of team Steven Smith and handed over the captaincy to Sanju Samson for IPL 2021. It was a very surprising move from management. Steven Smith is a world-class player. They also released Tom Curran, Varun Aaron and Oshane Thomas. They will go for bowlers in the auction and Smith’s replacement.
Sunrisers Hyderabad has maintained its old core and released only a few cricketers with no such big name. They have retained all their match-winners like David Warner, Kane Williamson, Rashid Khan, Jonny Bairstow and Manish Pandey. They released Billy Stanlake, Fabian Allen etc.
Kolkata Knight Riders has released few bench players. They have maintained their playing XI squad and released Tom Banton, Chris Green, Harry Gurney etc.
Mumbai Indians are the defending champions of IPL 2021. MI has retained their frontline seam bowlers but released James Pattinson, Nathan Coulter Nile, Mitchell McCleneghan etc. They released their first change, second change bowlers but retained all batsmen in the squad. MI will go for bowlers in the auction of IPL 2021 with a decent budget in hand.
