Sri Lankan cricket board has recently announced Lanka Premier League (LPL) a major cricket tournament in country. It will be held from November 21 to December 12, 2020. The SLC Executive Committee approved the tournament permission on July 27.
The LPL T20 2020 tournament will follow the same rules and regulations of Indian Premier League (IPL). Five city based franchises teams like Colombo, Kandy, Galle, Dambulla and Jaffna will participate in the tournament.
There will be 70 international cap players and availability of 10 high profile coaches which is confirmed according to committee. This will be the inaugural season therefore committee is trying to earn as much as profit they can have.
The LPL 2020 matches will be held in international stadiums. Each franchise will have their home grounds and will play half of their league matches at home. Pallekele International Stadium and Suriyawewa Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium are some of the grounds allotted for LPL.
