The Caribbean Premier League (CPL) is like Indian Premier League (IPL) which was inaugurated back in 2013 by West Indian cricket board. It is a Caribbean T20 league where six city based franchises teams take part to win the title. The CPL is all set to have its 9th edition as CPL 2021 and after the pandemic Corona Virus it is confirmed that CPL 2021 will commence from August 18. The format of the tournament will remain same as like the previous season double round-robin and Knockout finals. There are certain locations or grounds selected for CPL 2021 matches. The six teams which will compete against each other in the league are Guyana Amazon Warriors, Jamaica Tallawahs, Trinbago Knight Riders, Barbados Tridents, St Lucia Zouks and St Kitts and Nevis Patriots. Out of these 6 teams in the league, 3 teams have won the title at least once. Trinbago Knight Riders are the defending champions of CPL 2021. In the CPL history, Chris Gayle is the most successful batsman while Dwayne Bravo is the most successful bowler till this season. Chris Gayle has scored most runs (2354) and Dwayne Bravo has got most wickets (97) in CPL.

Caribbean Premier League CPL 2021 Schedule
The CPL 2021 will begin from August 18 by taking all the precautions against Corona Virus. The CPL will give some positivity to all the cricket fans during this pandemic. The final of the CPL T20 will be held on September 10. Each team will have 10 league matches and then the top 4 teams will qualify for playoffs. Total 33 matches will be there in CPL T20. Each day will have 2 matches, 1st match will be at 10:00 AM and the 2nd match at 5:30 PM at local time.

CPL History – 2013 to 2019
- CPL 2013
CPL 2013 was the maiden season of the league. The first season was a huge success for Jamaica Tallawahs, as they had won the title and, for West Indian Cricket Board. In CPL 2013, the final was played between Jamaica Tallawahs and Guyana Amazon Warriors. The Jamaica Tallawahs had won the game by 7 wickets and also won the first CPL title. Chris Gayle had scored good runs in the inaugural season of the league for Jamaica Tallawahs.
- CPL 2014
The defending champions of CPL 2014 could not lift the 2014 cup and CPL got its new Champions. The final of CPL 2014 was played between Barbados Tridents and Guyana Amazon Warriors. Barbados Tridents had won the game by 8 runs (D/L) and also won their 1st BBL title. It had become the 2nd team to lift the title.
- CPL 2015
The defending champions Barbados Tridents had played good cricket in CPL 2015 but could not win the final match against Trinbago Knight Riders. It was a year for Trinbago Knight Riders as they got their first CPL title. Trinbago Knight Riders defeated the defending champions Barbados Tridents. Trinbago Knight Riders had won the game by 20 runs and CPL also had got its 3rd champion in 3rd season.
- CPL 2016
Jamaica Tallawahs had bounced back in CPL 2016 and surprised everyone by winning their 2nd CPL title. It was for the 2nd time that Jamaican team defeated Guyana Amazon Warriors in final. It was really disappointing for Guyana Amazon Warriors. Jamaica had easily won the game by 9 wickets and became the 1st team to win championship twice.
- CPL 2017
The 2017 CPL title was won by Trinbago Knight Riders and it was the 2nd title for Trinbago Knight Riders. They defeated St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the final. It was the 1st CPL final for St Kitts and Nevis Patriots but they could not win it. Trinbago Knight Riders had won the match by 3 wickets.
- CPL 2018
The defending champions Trinbago Knight Riders of CPL 2018 had also become the champions of CPL 2018 and won their 3rd title in CPL 2018. It was a night full of dreams for all Trinbago fans and for franchise too. They had defeated Guyana Amazon Warriors and won the title by 8 wickets.
- CPL 2019
The CPL 2019 brought 2nd title for Barbados Tridents. They had won the CPL 2019 title by defeating Guyana Amazon Warriors. Barbados Tridents had won the game by 27 runs and it was for the 5th time that Guyana Amazon Warriors could not win the final match of CPL.
CPL 2021 Venue
The Caribbean Premier League 2021 will have 33 matches which all will be held in Trinidad and Tobago because of the pandemic Corona Virus. All CPL 2021 league matches will be held at Trinidad and Tobago which are arranged as 23 matches including playoffs matches will be held at Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba and the rest of the 10 matches will be played at Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain.
CPL 2021 Teams
The six city based teams will compete against each other in CPL 2021 with an aim to lift the championship. The six teams are:
- Trinbago Knight Riders: Trinbago Knight Riders is the most successful team of CPL. They have 3 titles and the team is also very strong in CPL 2021.
- Barbados Tridents: Barbados Tridents are the defending champions of CPL 2020 and they have 2 CPL titles.
- Jamaica Tallawahs: Jamaica Tallawahs is the first champions of CPL. They also have 2 CPL titles. They are very strong side will look forward for this season.
- Guyana Amazon Warriors: They don’t have any CPL title but the team has always impressed everyone with its performance. They have a record of playing most CPL finals.
- St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots: St Kitts and Nevis Patriots has played one CPL final and the team is very confident for CPL 2021 also.
- St. Lucia Zouks: St Lucia Zouks always finished the season at bottom position and the team has never reached to CPL finale till now.
